Yea why not   :). I'm a 38 year old naturist. Morning person. Don't really like the taste of alcohol
But will have a bit every now and again. Love to dance, laugh and flirt.  ;D

@Friendly Unfortunately, the time to reflect just hasn't materialised yet. However, I'm glad as it seems the bump of this thread has started the process of WOC getting to know each other.

I am a (do I have to state my age???) year old lesbian of Black African origin (9ja to be exact). Lived in NorthWest London since I was about 8. I don't like labels, but I do understand the human need to use them and such would classify as a soft stud - used to be my old GB user name BITD. I have 2 sons - turning 4 and 2 way to soon and had the children with my ex partner in life (CP). I am a social care professional and although I enjoy my work (most of the time), think I work way too much and Yes, you guesed it... I do like to get out and let my dreads down  :P

;) Likes:Travel, holidays, sunny days, park days, duvet days, dinner dates, Southbank, Soho, Pride(Feminine, Black or Gay), a good cook, good conversation, dancing, hip hop, bashment, soul, RnB, Jazz,

 >:( Dislikes: rainy days, awkward silences...  I'm struggling with dislikes #postwritersblock

I could do with expanding my social circle as things have changed a lot for me in the last year.

@naturale - hence the handle! Glad I asked. I thought you meant the 'in touch with nature' definition!

Hi Londoncutie. I'm sure more will swing by and say Hi too.

Not many meetups in this thread yet but there are some in where to meet.

Hey,

I've been looking on various sites for groups etc that socialise together. I went on Meetup but the groups I found are either for over 35's (I miss out by 2yrs) or require a facebook link (only way of uploading profile pic which is 'required').

Or they don't allow women who aren't W.o.C.  I get all the reasons why this may be.

However, my partner is White and after 5 years of negotiating socialising (lesbian/bi women only or mixed? DnB/house or pop/RnB?) I wish we could avoid the whole 'who's gonna be a racial minority tonight'? My partner doesn't mind either way, but it bothers me.

Maybe I'm being unrealistic but would love to find a women's group that was very mixed (in terms of ethnicity). Is it just me or are racial divisions more prominent in the gay community? In the meantime I've signed up to 'lez be social' on meetup as the members list looks quite diverse and my partner can join in the convo.

Are there any other groups people can sign-post me to please? Back in the day this particular board was quite lively so I went to a GB social but was the only WoC there (to be fair I did leave after 10mins). Now this board is more quiet I wonder where everyone has gone??

Thanks in advance for any replies, as its bank hol you're all probably busy!

 :)

Hi, I run a diverse meetup group (London Lesbian Singles) but it's for singles.

For people in a relationship I suggest that they are all diverse apart from the three people of colour groups so it depends on what you want.

Lez be social is far too young for me. 30s is fine though.

There is LGBT live music group that does good meetups at lesbian venues with live music and they put on their own events. it's run by a mixed race woman with diverse music tastes. Something for you both to enjoy.

City pink has just started a meetup group if you're into networking.

Events for Gay women is run by Elaine from the Glassbar. She attracts a diverse crowd too.

You're spoilt for choice apart from the two groups you mentioned that are for people of colour.

London Cutie - Welcome to GB.

Paradox - I am a meet up member and there are a few groups you could go to. The Black Lesbian 35+ would be good if you wanted to go on your own. I do think it may be a little weird for your partner if she came too, but i would imagine it wooudl be down to you and you could choose to bring someone as a plus 1. Worth contacting organisers direct to check if there is something you particularly want to go to. There are ways around it though.

I look forward to seeing you at one of the future meetups.

Thanks M&M and Friendly!

That's really helpful. There are a lot of groups on that site and I'm not too great when it comes to online networking/socialising etc. Am determined to get better though!

Have signed up for Blue Monday nxt week. Has anyone been or is anyone going??
