Very sad, and the police authorities will no doubt blame it entirely on the split from her g/f.

:( Sad - tragic really , South Yorkshire Police claim to have no homophobic incidents reported , they do i know this from experience they just don't bother sorting it out or sending anyone out to incidents.
Maybe Stevie already is everybody's ex?

I knew her quite well ... and have felt sad all week since I heard what she had done.

It's LAURA Goldie ... not Lara - can you change it OP?

the bloody Sun got her name wrong for starters.  How upsetting will that be for her family !

She was a really vibrant young woman, bubbly and joyous - I am shocked she did this but when I saw her last a month ago she did talk very sadly about her break-up with her girlfriend and not enjoying the police.

I know several lesbians in the police and it's not easy. Some aren't out - some are.  But all of them would say that being a WOMAN in the force is just as hard.  If you don't laugh along with the male jokes you quickly get a reputation of being a party pooper ..

what a waste of a life - she was lovely.

Blythe, sorry for the mistake, just quoting from the article... which as you said got her name wrong.

She sounds like a lovely, lovely person, such a loss!

Hugs for you (((Blythe))) it must be so difficult losing someone you know in this way.

It was one paragraph of a four page note referring to prejudice at work - the 'homophobia' accusation is a misleading headline

I am very sorry to say but her name was Lara not Laura. I am her niece, on my mothers side, so for who ever was saying her name was Laura I am sorry but you are wrong.

A few weeks ago it was Lara's birthday...she would be 36

Hi, I knew your Lara, when I knew her in the bar I worked in and she frequented and on FB she used Laura but maybe that was deliberate.
I know I wish I'd not used my actual name on fb as its not good when new colleagues want to friend you.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your aunt. She was a very vibrant person.
