A bit panicked that I'm moving in three weeks. Lots to do. Low funds. And I've gotten blobbily fat again and am dreading seeing people I haven't seen since last Summer when I was sveltish.  :-\ *stuffs a chocolate in and washes it down with some coke*

^ same, just watching it, it's why I thought I would write a little something more to try and take our minds of it for a while; all these horrible occurrences lately , just unbelievable! :(
So sad, so wrong.
One day I'll laugh about this!😑

Out of sorts.

But yes, about the tower: it brought tears to my eyes to read about the cladding. The fact that it was ever used on buildings, the fact that this happened over two years ago in Melbourne, the fact that it takes SO LONG to get this kind of thing investigated and fixed. What a horrible horrible way to die, what a horrible thing to survive (such horrific memories to deal with), what a horrible thing to face as a firefighter.... But hey, some building companies and buildings suppliers made a fortune and some building owners saved money on the building and renovation of all these places. and it will be able to happen again and again before all of the stuff is removed from all the other buildings it's been used for.

Extremely glad that my brother no longer lives on the top floor of a tower block.

Dizzy, weak and shaky. I really need to eat properly.
I've had a hideously stressful week and now it's catching up on me. We had to dash down to Salisbury on Tuesday morning because my girlfriends dad was seriously ill in hospital and not expected to live.  He is stable now, thankfully, but this week has been spent doing long vigils in the hospital. We drove back to Oxford on Thursday evening, then my girlfriend went back to Milton Keynes ready for work on Friday. Last night she drove back to Oxford, and today she's off down to Salisbury again, coming back this evening. I'm really worried for her, she stressed out of her mind and she's not getting any rest. She's also just started a new job and I'm worried that she's going to buckle under the strain. I'm trying to be as supportive as I can but I'm not feeling great either. I just feel utterly overwhelmed by everything that's gone on lately. There was the two awful terrorist attacks, then the election, and now this horrific fire, which has really affected me, as it has all of us.  I feel like I'm drowning in anxiety, but I need to stay as well as I possibly can and  be strong for my girlfriend. She really doesn't need me flipping out as well.

Welcome back to Europe, c&m!

(((Slanty))) my mother in law is now expected to recover after all, but it's been 6 weeks already, with 2 weeks of bedside vigils, all of our weekends and for my wife an extra day during the week as well, and frequent waves of pessimism/depression on my mother in law's part (perfectly understandable but emotionally draining for all of us). And this is just the start of her recovery. She has fair use of one arm and one leg, can move her whole upper body a little, can see the clock on a good day, and can now flex her ankle and toes on one side and flex her other leg and foot quite well.

So this is going to continue fro months, our own house is a tip, we're both behind with work things, and right now we are going to have a nap. Just a nap, really, and god I am looking forward to closing my eyes for an hour. And this is a good day....

Hugs to you and your girlfriend, and I wish you both courage and strength. You need it.

Thanks LFL. I think we're in for the long haul on this one as well. I hope your mother-in-law continues to improve, and that you two manage to look after yourselves. xx
