That I really ought to be settling down to sleep as I have an early start tomorrow and a very long (and possibly arduous) day ahead. But I'm just not feeling it. Oh well, I can sleep on the train (if my companions will let me) ;D

^ Tax return?

I caved last year and used an accountant. Used them again this time. Worth the small fee just to take the stress and angst away...

I had the idea to make a fried cabbage dish with vegan bacon. I imagined advert-worthy pieces of crispy vegan bacon nesting in perfectly spiced cabbage. But I hadn't drained the water from the cabbage properly, so it was all soggy and tasted of failure, and now I am left with purple cabbage water marks in random places. I feel resentful.

Oh, fried cabbage is quite good! General recipe: sauté some onion and garlic in olive oil, add lots of shredded cabbage to pan, some spices (salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes). Optional: Middle Class brie.

That my dad has just told me he has cancer, and I don't know what to do with this information.
That my friend just died of the same and I am racked with guilt that I lost touch with him in his last year of life.
That visiting my mum leaves me feeling emotionally dirty, tired and in despair. Her physical and mental degeneration is awful to witness, but her increasingly right wing politics and stubbornness about possible solutions for her situation makes having any sort of constructive conversation impossible.

That I am so glad to be home.

Heavy stuff, Kess. I hope you're able to do some good self-care now you're home. *hugs*

That's a fucking ridiculous amount of things for someone to have going on.

I love cabbage and bacon but I've never tried frying the cabbage before. I will try it.

But there is way too much going on in there flavour-wise for me. I've got a very simple palate. The bacon would be more than enough for me.
