I desperately need new glasses but I'm too neurotic of a person to easily adjust to a new pair. What if the optometrist makes them wrong? Is there going to be a little speck in the corner? Are they going to give me a headache? What if I'm not as me as me in a new pair?

Worse case scenario: you give up on them and go back to the old ones if you really can't get on with the new ones.

Apart from the speck in the corner, all of your fears happened to me with my last pair. Ok, not sick exactly, but dizzy in certain circumstances (moving my head a certain way). I have never given up on a pair before (in 40 years), but these went back in the box a month or two who. Going to see the optician about it tomorrow, wish me luck!

Thanks LFL. Good luck fixing yours tomorrow! Argh, imperfection just does not work with a pair of glasses.

I'm hesitant to take the plunge also because getting a pair is exorbitantly expensive (about 450 buckeroos for frames+lenses). But I will have to brave the uncertainty because I'm missing a lot of important visual information.

Well, yes, glasses ain't cheap, especially as we get older...!

My duff ones were bought in the uk, which saved me hundreds of euros, or so I thought. But now I've gone back to the Dutch ones after all. (I had thought I was being clever buying a spare pare at half the Dutch price, to avoid having to pay the Dutch price for an emergency replacement if I broke them).

But seeing is important and if there isn't a 12 hour journey between you and your optician, you should be able to keep going back until they get it right, for that price.

I'm thinking world peace is probably not possible. This is based on the fact that every time I give my dogs a bone each, they spend the whole day trying to be the dog who ends up with both bones rather than enjoying the one they have. Huge leap and a different species, I know. I know.

I am also thinking, having just heard Doris Day on the radio singing the Black Hills of Dakota, that that's supposed to be the happy scene in the movie. The one where Calamaty Jane gets all dolled up and rides in the wagon in her ball gown with the bloke and yet that's the precise moment, 8 year old me thought, "WTF???? That's a massive let down" and turned the channel over. Being gay was living your life upside down and sometimes can feel like it still is.
And now I know how Joan of Arc felt.......

That not being able to give my son the comfort and reassurance he desperately wants when he is sobbing his heart out, because his useless alcoholic excuse of a father doesnít care about him, is the absolute pits.
If there is a way to sugarcoat the blindingly obvious I havenít found it yet.

Oh dear, hope it passes soon. My cheap and cheerful go to for irritated skin (sunburn, eczema...) is aqueous cream.

I have a weird flower shaped 'stamp' on the back of my hand since yesterday. God knows where that came from ???

It's a cloudy day and i will go for another walk,as cloudy
days without rain are rare. With the sun shining,it's
too warm.

You belong, but hiccups in the middle of the night don't! Hope you managed to get a good night's sleep in the end.

What hateful human activity caused you to lose all faith in humanity?  :(

I clearly had too much to drink last night because I don't remember posting this at all! I'm surprised that I managed to spell everything correctly and use correct punctuation.

I was out with people I used to work with last night and was reminded why I don't fit in their world.  It's not a surprise as it's one of the reasons I don't work there anymore but I had forgotten.

(Going to check all my other social media and email accounts to check if I expressed my disdain for the human race elsewhere!)
