This thread isn't response to censorship, it's in response to bullying. Asking people to respect each other in a public forum isn't censorship, but courtesy.

Am I wrong?

There has been no bullying - no new bullying anyway.
Bitching, on the other hand - there's been plenty of that.

Erm, yes there has.

Erm, I'll agree to differ with you there.

Rock-the-casbah, you're a lovely, intense, funny woman, and really quite beautiful.

I knew there was a reason I loved you.  :-*

And by censorship, I meant the Mods trying to police expression.
Losing battle on both sides in many ways.  We have to comply or we get booted nowadays but in the long run/grand scheme/wider real world, it would never work or be accepted.

I didn't read this new thread as being started to police expression, but in recognition of deliberately intimidating behaviour by some members of the board towards other members. This new thread is an indication that attempts to bully are not tolerated.

I don't agree that in the real world this would be tolerated.

The easiest way to stop bullying/bitching would be to ban the use of the asterix...if people actually had to name the people they were talking about  most of them wouldn't.

I know I'm going to sound like a pompous arse here, but there is a difference between bitching and bullying. One is mundane, whilst the other is very distressing and unacceptable.

Are you all suggestiing that we should allow someone to be bullied on here?

Why don't you just spit it out and name the people you are making such oblique reference to.
Really - this is plain daft.

danced over the dust and the mess
"I'll do my prawn mime,
using marmite this time"
he lied.  Take that, kiwigoddess!"
