Puppy names
« on: Jun 13, 2018, 11:08:22 PM »
I do not have a new puppy. But I am consoling myself by looking at puppies needing homes.

We currently have an 8 stone Rottweiler/Mastiff called Hugo Chavez. Top thinks we should call any incoming puppy Che Guevara. I think this is too predictable.

What should we call our new puppy (if we ever get one)?

He is likely to be a boy btw. He is likely to be some kind of medium lab looking crossbreed. I know that sound awfully specific but that’s the kind of puppy where we live is choc a bloc with.

My vote is for Rigatoni Pupperoni if he's Italian.

A medium lab crossbreed?  Like Tristram Hunt?

I'd go with Sinatra. Only because I like the idea of lesbians shouting 'Sin!' 'Siinn!' out in the countryside.

I took over a dog whose previous owners had called 'Connie'...and I just couldn't. So we called her 'Ronnie'..so as not to confuse her, too much. With this in mind, and if you want to continue the socialist political theme...why not Gandhi? If you get bored with that, you could change it to Randy (if it's frisky), Sandy (if it fancies a change) or even Bandy (as it gets older).
Nye Bevan, 'the NHS will exist for only as long as the people fight for it'...or something like that.

This, this is brilliant.

I really wish Hugo was called Mr Loverman, it would make things so much easier.

One of my old neighbours had two lovely shih tzu dogs called Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton (Ken & Dol for short). The similarity between Kenny Rogers the dog & Kenny Rogers the man was uncanny.

I don’t really have any suggestions but I quite like a dog with a full on title such as Sir Steve Sleep A Lot.

We’re being assessed to re home one of these, she already has a very boring name but she’s a beauty.

We went to the animal rescue place, we were just dropping in to have a bit of a look. I wasn’t expecting to see anything I wanted, I’m a bit of a dog snob, I’ve only ever had beautiful, majestic dogs. I only really like beautiful, majestic dogs. Big ones.

There was this Staffie, she looked like the runt of the litter, who’d aged badly. She’s had at least one litter and had been hanging out with foxes. She didn’t smell great and she doesn’t have many teeth. She’s not a looker, she’s not even average.

Through sheer force of personality, lyco’s, she’s moved in. During the trip home from the rescue place, I had my head out the window, like a dog, gulping in air that didn’t smell of fox shit.

She’s a little dote and we’ve called her Posy Daisy Lily Poppy.

Aww, that is lovely to hear. I am so glad she finally got a break in life and gets to have a happy life with you and Lyco.
