Shout out to anyone in Manchester or West Midlands
« on: Aug 16, 2017, 04:55:20 PM »
Looking to get involved in the scenes of Manchester and West Midlands, but not too sure where to start as am new to the areas and don't know any queer folk.

Recommendations, hello's, and waves welcome :-)
The #292 Rule: Never be ashamed of yourself, because you are born into one skin. You can scar it, stretch it, burn it, mark it, tan it, peel it. But you are always in it, so you might as well learn to love it.

Hey floating!

It is definitely nerve-wracking getting involved in the scene when you don't know anyone! I don't know how familiar you are with Manchester (which is all I can speak for am afraid), but the gay scene centres around Canal Street i.e. gay village. There's a bar called Vanilla, which is a lesbian bar. Quite small and during the weekdays is pretty chill - if you prefer quieter bars then earlier in the evenings and during the week is best.

If you wanna network before going out or know about more events in the area, HER are pretty good at the moment with organising events in Manchester. If you have the app you should check out the events going on. The next one in Manchester is 27th October:

We have regular events at the LGBT Foundation also, which you can check out here: is also a great way to expand your queer network, especially if you're going to events on your own:

I hope you find something interesting/of use here :)
