What is your primary question?
« on: May 28, 2017, 09:23:23 PM »
A classic question from a seminar but I only heard it recently and apparently understanding your primary question - the question you most ask yourself through the day or what you're regularly thinking through the day, can tell you a lot about yourself and help you identify thought patterns to break:

My primary question is and has always been: What am I going to eat next

When I look at my watch, I'm dividing up the hours by how long it is until I can next eat and thinking about what choices I have to eat. However, I always eat almost exactly the same thing, so its a real waste of time putting that question top of mind! I always have the same lunch or variation thereof.

Whats your primary question, and are you pleased it is?

Why has heterosexuality not died out? It's a perennial mystery. Even more baffling than Capitalism, another ill-considered system that's clearly seen better days.

You ask yourself that question several times a day?

Hm! Well, still better than my question!

^Probably. Or variations of it. Like thinking I really do prefer the company of gayers, how come we're not in the majority? Interspersed with the errors of capitalism, translated into wondering how long the combination (in my neighbourhood) of increased gentrification and homelessness can go together.

Interesting!

So you're in politics then? Or some kind of social work?

My primary question is 'what time is it?'

Which, considering my timekeeping skills, is most certainly as pointless as your food one, Xof.

These days my primary question seems to be "where did I put my... [stylus for my phone / phone / hairslide / shopping / blue shoes I bought two years ago / fluffy poncho / phone / stylus for my phone..."] Ad infinitum.

I managed to change my primary question for a few weeks - on purpose- away from the food one which I guess is anxiety driven (as likely the what time is is or the where is X you guys mentioned) to facing every situation with 'And what could be awesome about that'.

I'm pretty sure where I was and what I was doing was the only reason I managed to concentrate my mind on always asking the new question (i was on a 800k hike so very little disturbed me day to day)! But it completely changed my outlook, happiness levels and luck! I remember really trying to find the positive in blisters! 'What are these blisters teaching me' rather me 'why do I have to get blisters when others don't get them' etc. Trying to find the grace in everything - it feels totally unnatural! And sometimes it's really funny / That guy stole my shoes as he clearly needed them ... etc etc

But it makes you feel fabulous! :D  Hard to do in stressful London working situations

"When will I get to sit down and read something of my choice?"

That's been there for almost as long as I can remember.

Because I would end up unemployed pretty quickly if I did everytime I thought that. And homeless. And probably single.

Maybe! Or maybe you'd launch a new career! :D

(Do you actually want to spend all day every day doing this, or just mean you wish you had a couple hours in the day to do this)?

I don't think my mortgage company would be impressed with that level of maybe.

I mean as in the question I ask myself most throughout the day.

What's next?

I ask myself this everyday once I've got through something (both professionally and personally)
