I almost didn't answer this thread as I thought 'But there are so many things that make me cry' < loads of tv/films/music ...and from utterly cheesy motivations to the deeply poignant. Books less so, the end of 'Derek Jarman's Garden' is a heartbreaker, I also cried while reading one section of Sarah Schulmans 'Conflict is not Abuse'. Pretty sure I could cry over a bus timetable if the stars were leaning the right way and the weather was moody.

The first film that made me cry was The Hunchback of Notre Dame,in the end when he said,"Why wasn't I made of stone like thee?" to the gargoyle. I was 6 years old and it was on TV.

The Colour Purple and Boys Don't Cry both make me weep. Both ate films that are well worth watching.

I don't know if anyone here watches The Last Kingdom (BBC2, series 2 recently ended), but the reunion of Beocca and Thyra in the penultimate episode had me in floods! Ian Hart is so good in this.

Yes, I like GoT, but I love TLK! :D

"I thought you were dead and I wanted to die!" - not many actors could pull off that line and make it so utterly believable.

This clip, from Girl, Interrupted, after I came out of hospital
it's the song and what's going on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EefRBm6wPHU I'd cry each time the song started..
the same with the beginning of the English Patient
It's the soundtrack.

I didn't like watching these two while 'growing up,' but the meaning became more important to me after my discharge.
The film and soundtrack that made me break down in 2013
was Lawrence of Arabia for its beauty.

I'm reading Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons.. It has me crying but with laughter.. Still a good read 80+ years since initial publication.
