Is woman on woman sex still really that shocking?
« on: Sep 02, 2016, 10:47:00 PM »
So I came across a news article today that left me wondering whether the outrage was as much about the fact that the two people involved were women, rather than just it being a public sex act:

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/two-women-who-admitted-performing-8756971

The same newspaper, one day previously, published a very similar story that should have been almost identical in shock value. Check out the language:

Is sex between women in 2016 still that shocking? Or am I missing something in the stories that would explain this.

The women are described as lewd and disgusting while the straight couple, doing exactly the same thing, are romantic lovebirds.
So yes, PT, it would see that lesbian sex is still regarded as nasty and abnormal.

It's not a reassuring thought that a large proportion of the population regularly reads this tripe churned out by the tabloids.

Being so drunk that you would perform intimate acts in public is what would shock me be it straight or gay sex. The demon here is drink.

Yeah, I agree with Lost soul. Real intinacy should be a private affair. There is something about morals that screams out in all of this...

Um, I am happy for people to have non-private sex, but would prefer not to used for someone else's gratification without my consent.

So if I go to a place where non-private sex is likely to be happening, and I know that, then I am consenting to being used as a bystander or potential onlooker in someone's desire to have non-private sex, no big deal.

If someone is hoping to be private and I happen upon them by accident then, well, that's just unfortunate for all parties.

But if someone chooses a very public place for sex and 'the public' couldn't reasonably be expected to know or suspect that, then it's very selfish, at the least. And at worst abusive.

I recall trying to be liberal about gay men and cottaging, by saying to a friend that, as long as it was consented to, no one gets harm, so what's the fuss? She replied by saying why should others be subjected to their sexual antics just in going about their normal activities. Enough said.

^ what Lust for Life says. No one should make other people part of their/witness their sex acts without their consent. Also did anyone read that article about the woman having sex with the dinosaur ornament in the park?

In response to the post,  I never think of any sex as "shocking".
Simply believe it should be private.

A Cuban friend of mine who is about 10 years older, told me in Cuba
men would pay $100 in the 50s to watch lesbians have sex. It was a
business and the lesbians were protected by armed guards. They were
probably simply women doing it for $. There would be a dozen men in the room
and each woman received $100, which back then was a lot of $ here in
the states. Naturally, the guards got the rest of the $. a 2bedroom
apartment in Cuba was $75 a month.  {Mind you she translated whatever currency when she explained this. Her father attended}

This Cuban thing does not shock me. It's a business. We can't stop these things.
There are all kinds of people  and a variety of ways to make money!
accept what is,let go of what was and have  faith in what will be
