Trump vs Clinton
« on: Jul 26, 2016, 05:38:42 PM »
I don't really understand American politics, but I've watched with horror as Donald Trump has seen off all opposition and now is within a hairs breadth of being 'the leader of the free world' though I have no idea why that title is appropriate.

I feel incredibly alarmed that he may win.
Is this justified or will it really make no difference to us over here?

Why is Hillary so unpopular and could she beat him?

According to Michael Moore, he will win.

I am shocked that his racist and misogynist attitudes are as popular as they seem,
What are your thoughts on the American election?

Well people in this country were stupid enough to vote for the Tories, then stupid enough to vote for brexit, so why can't Trump win?
I have no idea why Hillary Clinton is so unpopular. Maybe politics is becoming more polarised over there as well. If so, then I suggest that we're all screwed.
I also don't know how much a Trump presidency would affect us, but I'm pretty sure it would affect America's credibility throughout the rest of the world, rather like Boris and brexit has affected hours.
So no, sorry, no useful answers there.  I don't understand  US politics at all.

Eta.  It's becoming increasingly obvious that facts don't actually matter where political campaigning is concerned.  Whoever can tell the most pandering lies and promise to create the most populist fantasy world will win.

Well, from what I see there is a whole lotta misogyny and racism in the leader of the free *laugh darkly* world. Looks like the whole angry man killing masses is catching on across the globe too. Hail America!

Yes, it will have global consequences when they vote the nutter in.

We need Thais to wake up and explain why the Trumpites want to lock Hillary up.

She deleted loads of incriminating emails and said she was poor when in fact, she's very rich. Many people think she should be in jail.

I don't think they did. The fact is she said it so that is what people have against her amongst other things.

I hope he doesnt win. I'm frightenened that he will.  I read somewhere that the president doesn'r run the country anyway - he/she is like a frontman..except for the military where he/she has ultimate control. I don't understand US politics at all so I dont know how true that is..but bleedin hell, it's a scary thought.

I watched a programme last night about Hillary that said she'd defied the Secret Service and only used her own email address rather than the specified one, for all her official emails, and here is the clincher, thereby bypassing the Freedom of Information laws.

He could win just because Hillary is so unpopular. He also has great PR, is saying all the right things and is known for getting the job done.
