So it's a flattered no, unfortunately. But we did end up swapping a few friendly texts, which was cool. And now I know that my crush isn't requited I suppose I can focus my attention elsewhere... damn shame though!

Now, where to meet like-minded 40ish women in North-East Essex...???

I'm not in Essex, no, but the lovely Nismat is, and I'll bet there are others on GB. And there will be meetup groups and so forth.

Where?  I was in Clacton on Saturday.   I am in Essex but the London end of Essex near Epping Forest.

We had an Essex meet about three years ago.  We went clubbing in Chelmsford.  It was fun

You're a fan of the details, aren't you?! I'm in Colchester right now, and for now.

That's a shame mobius, but well done for being brave enough to ask.
Good luck in your quest :)

It's always worth trying in these situations. I'm really happy you told her, even if it was a flattered no. :)

I'm sorry to hear it's unrequited, but it sounds like it was nicely handled all the same.

I am not only in NE Essex, I also live in Colchester! 40ish, and you have Saga N's endorsement to go by

Have sent you a message mobius, if you fancy meeting for a coffee sometime. I'm keen to expand my circle of friends locally (many of them having proved not terribly good friends after all, through my divorce).
Lesbian/queer friends = bonus!
