Jane Austen challenge
« on: Mar 18, 2016, 02:14:42 AM »
Ok, so I am reading Emma for the third time and finally finding it funny. But that's not the challenge. I really do think there are all kinds of different sentences that could have been made using the words:

Transgression, woman, woman, betraying, feelings

And in the next sentence:

Escape, submission, penetration, tongue.

(Emma, part 2, chapter 9)

So the challenge is:

Use these words in two sentences

and/or:

Throw us some similar word selections from a classic novel :D

I could, at this point, let you know what the original sentences were, but I'm afraid they were entirely un-vaulty :(

Not at all how I thought this thread might go, but lovely. Thanks for sharing that.

It takes more than that to spoil a thread, and that was actually very helpful to me: I had just been wondering what kind of watches they wore in those days, and whether or not women had them, and the second or third video pretty much gave me the answer.

Meanwhile, attempting to get back to a more vaulty atmosphere, I found another of these could-have-been-so-different sentences:

Devoted, sacrifice, pleasures, intercourse, penance, mortification.

Or does that one more rightly belong in the dungeon?

This one is more vanilla:

Warmth, true, she, call, her, very, morning, beginning, on her side, regular, equal, intercourse.

It might not be obvious from what I've posted here, or on Emma in general, but I loved P&P and S&S and that was partly why I was so disappointed in Emma the first two times I read it. Have loved it this time though :D

I'm teaching Northanger Abbey at the moment, and we've all had a little giggle at the use of the word 'ejaculation'.  :)
