Virtual Gym Buddies - let's motivate each other m'kay.
« on: Jan 27, 2015, 10:31:18 PM »
I need motivation to go to the gym, exercise there, and lose some weight.

If you have ideas on how we could support each other 'virtually' please advise.  This could be via beeries buddying up and PM'ing each other, or all contributing as per the Weight Loss thread.

So let's spandex up and discuss...

I find the don't want to go thoughts don't match with how I feel once I'm there and working out. In fact, once I get going I want to do more more more and have to reason not to over do it. I have heard other people say the same? Knowing this weird thing helps.

As for swimming, I allow myself relaxation time after a swim as a reward and motivation (to look forward to), even though the swim itself has been great.

^ yes it often feels better once I'm actually there.

I tend to do classes, as I get bored easily in the gym. Nothing involving much coordination though. I nearly caused injury to myself and several other people, the one and only time I attempted Zumba. Like swimming and cycling too.

^^ Me too oOf.  Getting there is the main issue, hence I'd like a buddy that can tell me when they've been, and vice versa.

If I go for a swim, I have the steam room to look forwards to, and and the jacuzzi to get germs from.  I'm totally up for PM'ing a buddy on body stats and attendance etc. Then updating this thread for the general.

Well I think the thing to do is to post stories from the gym that have less to do with numbers and more to do with little *histoires* about the things we see there.

The whole reason to go to a gym is to *raconter une histoire.*

If more people realized this, the western world would be in better shape.

That was my first post ever in Mind Body Spirit.

I hope and pray it was up to scratch.

And me.  Feels wierd, but am going with it.

I plan to lose what I've gained in the passed couple of years.  So the goal is 1.5 stone by the end of 2015.  6lb's in Feb, 3 in March, and 2lb's every month ongoing.

Havn't quite done the maths on that...

Good stuff DaisyD,

I reckon, you can either pair up with someone on this thread, else team up with me and Tights.

Otherwise we'll be posting our gym updates weekly (hopefully).  You in?

Brilliant idea Chewwy.  For me the exercise isn't so much the problem, it's the getting from inertia and warmth out there in the freezing blinking cold.
No one is obliged to write in ways that appeal to everyone else - we're not paying for the user content. If you don't like it skim past it.

Fabulous idea! I don't go to the gym but I am training for a half marathon. And I love it once I'm out running but also have trouble making myself go.

So a place I can share my progress will be super helpful :)
