Today I wrote a poem
« on: Jun 01, 2014, 04:09:12 PM »
I welcome constructive criticism, but please be kind.

GLITTER  - (named by my niece, content written by me)

When I was nine

I thought I could not be

A boy because
I could not climb
A tree.  I was rubbish
At football and bored
By cricket.

I liked

Pretty words and
Beautiful things and I
did not want to fight.

Now I am thirty-nine and
I learnt how to fight

And I have fought
To defend my friends
When necessary.

And I still love

Words and plants and animals
And glitter.

I am a boy now.
I am also a woman.

I am many
things

contradictory and complimentary.

And I climb trees.

That's fantastic - I really love the structure of it, really inspirational - thank you for sharing it with us  :)
People who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.

The one thing that does not abide by majority rule is a person's conscience.

''How Long...''

How long do I wait for you to be my date, when is the ''in a while' to see your smile, again to be?
Why is it you are so hard to see? Making a fool out of me.
This passion inside, feels harder to hide, it was meant to go away, if from you I would stay,
But no, it won't go, just gets harder each day!
The talk and persuasion gets me so confused, intended as a subliminal ruse,
Pulling my mind in other directions, giving me thoughts different perspections,

But the words and the deeds are those I must heed, as they're designed to prevent your love for my need,
So in full public view, again I must do, and prove once again, my love is for you! :-\

"What's going on?!!!"

What's going on in this world of ours?
Where hate not love it seems towers!
What's going on, why all the killin'?
Why all this spite and hurt you're all feelin'?

Seems like all of a sudden it all got so bad, making men fight, when they're just a lad!
Takin' your girls and making them women, doin bad stuff, love without feelin'

What's the rest doin' to help those that are sufferin', turning their gaze, just not lookin'!
They don't give a dam, your 'Uncle Sam', nor our government iether, they won't believe her,
The mother of the Son, killed by a gun, important to her, but not to some,

The wrong colour or creed, or maybe just greed,
that stops their intervention, we dare not mention.

The 'non believers' too, what are we to do, I wear a cross, but might buy a talisman too!
Just to be safe, and not sorry either, in case I too get shot, for being a 'non believer'!

But who do we blame in this murderous game, who's the one that should be filled with shame?
The mirror's at hand, I now understand, perhaps it's us all, in ALL of our land!
Hope your Gods can be with you.......ALL! :'(

You wanted....
You wanted me to prove it, in truth I don't know.
Love is all inspiring, except when it dies.
Future's snow, feeds the heart, emotions dip, into the lies.
You took flight  began running, I acknowledged there was something.
Too much, too less, not enough, we bluff.
Infidelity rules its game preventing revealing name.
Passions fill the night streaming clear and bright,
Waking with dull aching, left the love-making.
For the warmth of tomorrow, leaving the sorrow and the pain...again.

''The Painting.''

I drew you, did a sketch, the outline of your shape, from the nape of your neck.
You lay still, upon the sheet, white, soft, it reflected your face.

My love for you then seemed eternal, the laughter, the follie, would know no end,
in our attic room hate couldn't touch us, no need for pretend, for time did lend.

Covering you with my love, the heat we shared was enough, not feeling cold, just bold.
Passions stirring without repose, intimacy, secrets, to the unknown.

We have grown, now, the days are gone, the memories of love still linger on, in my mind,
in my thoughts, reoccurring bringing taunts, they wake me in the night,
Stirring again, restoring my faith, again I try, to re -live the day.

''Blue is the colour''.
Blue is the colour, it reminds me of you,
Remembering the last I saw you, looking down, looking blue.
Blue is the colour, it's shade is pale, I drink in your love my private ale,
Blue is the colour, it's representative of love,
Releasing the urgency like a bird soars above.
Blue is the colour, in my minds view, although, today I saw a different colour in you, I didn't know!
This time it was brighter, more fruitful in delivery,
Showing rosier strands of illumination and imagery,
Reds and maroon, could be mixed together with certainty,
Wishes silently whispered in looks, nothing to teach or intimate to us,
Just that colour, the one on your face, descriptive of satin, silk and lace,
Nothing hidden, nothing veiled, just surfacing burgundy shades,
Allowing our inner souls to glow, both of us together just letting it flow.......x.
