e-petition about housing benefit and Under 25s
« on: Jun 30, 2012, 12:43:57 AM »
Please have a look at this e-petition about young people and housing benefit on the Government website.   It is such an atrocious suggestion that they will remove Housing Benefit from under 25s.  I am hoping that this petition (and perhaps some others, but this one is on the Govt website) will have an overwhelming response and inevitably affect Government.

They imagine perhaps that you all have parents able and willing to house you? I have signed.

Goodness me, I am trying to shake off two 20 year olds already. How bad would it be if they all got sent home if they ran into financial difficulties? 25 is like a proper grown up for non-student types.

I'm not accusing students of immaturity btw, just saying that if you've been working for 7 or 8 years and lose your job, losing your housing as well would be doubly shite.

Would this apply to under 25s with partners and children?

By the way, who is Sandow?

But I'm having to claim it at 24 because I have no home to return to! Anyone who is dissociated from family, orphaned as a young adult, from foster care or children's homes or disabled youngsters that are trying to be independent of their families as a student would be in trouble! Let alone single parents with children or other young people who for a multitude of reasons can't get help from their parents! If they even still have parents!

Definitely signed!

Isn't this coming in only if Tories get in another term?
When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak.
