Our cat fell from the windowsill in our 3rd Floor flat.

My GF ran downstairs and opened front door and the cat shot in like a rocket and flew upstairs.

Both were fine!

I know Jack Sparrow has jumped/fallen twice but I didn't actually see it happen.

The first time was during a heatwave and I had left the front windows open all night and next morning could not find the cat.  When I went outside there he was, I assumed I had left him out all night long as I could not believe a cat could safely jump down even one floor.

Then it happened again so I realised they could.  Now I shut the windows properly.

Did anyone see the kitten in the Metro yesterday that survived being in a car engine for hours whilst the car was being driven??  They can only assume it climbed in the exhaust for warmth.
That's quite incredible.

Kind of, sort of.

He was having a scrap with another cat on my single-storey extension roof. They both fell, still fighting on their way down and carried on their scrap in the yard.

My neighbour moans at me that my cat climbs up into her balcony area. O-o Don't ask me how as it's all brick to get up there, unless she uses the drain pipe. I personally don't think it's even my cat, she just bounces around in the grass area; she's still less than a year old. When I think about it I should have called her Tigger. Anyways, I live on the bottom flat, I leave my window open when I'm in for her to get in and out as I don't have a cat flap, in winter this will change. At least I don't have to worry about the jumps.

Glad your cat is okay. 8)

Wolfgang, looking back at that picture, I think it must have been her tail that saved her.

It's huge!

  • so much not to do and all day not to do it in
My one year old feline launched herself out of my bedroom window onto the patio many years ago.
Physically unharmed by her exploit, she was none the less somewhat miffed that she failed to land on my best mate and her 8 month old who were innocently lurking beneath !

No, I think it was more of a delicate pounce...

When I was a teenager, my friend's mum ensconced herself in the brand-new loft extension to escape kids and cats. The cats just used to come and peer at her balefully through the Velux. One day, after a bit of unsuccessful peering, one of them must have lost its balance, because she heard the scraping of claws all the way down the roof, and then it sailed past the bathroom window.

It did lose a few teeth  :-\ and now it dribbles, but then it's quite old.

Mine had some kind of accident that might have involved falling off one of my first floor wndow sills, or AN Other high perch, a few months after she came to live with me five years ago.

I found her under my bed, covered in blood (her jaw was fractured) and limping badly (sprained ankles). The vet said she'd been hit by a car but as My'd never been seen on the road before then or since, I think it's unlikely. The specialist who inspected her paw-damage later tactfully stopped short of contradicting my vet but did suggest her injuries were consistent with a fall. Or a badly-judged leap.

She recovered perfectly and thinks thanks to Pet Plan the three nights in hospital, surgery, drugs and expensive paw consultation hardly cost me anything. *wipes brow*

I met a Bengal kitten recently who had smashed her elbows in a similar accident, and was caged for months. My cat was lucky.
