Milton Keynes Pride - Sat 11th Aug - Photos now available
« on: Aug 10, 2012, 01:57:22 PM »
Milton Keynes Pride 2012 will be the first pride event in the area. This is a non-profit community event 'To help to educate, support and influence the "inclusion without judgement", of the LGBTQ community.'

It is supported by a lot of local organisations, including QAlliance which is a registered charity that provides support, information and representation for the LGBTQ people who live, work and play in Milton Keynes.

See http://www.mkpride.org.uk/pages/community.htm for a list of all the local LGBTQ organisations supporting this event and the community.

Location: Campbell Park. Time: 1100 - 1900

Pink Punters sponsored bar open 1200 - 1800. Entertainment throughout the day, see website for details http://www.mkpride.org.uk/

Also there will be an after-party at Pink Punters (also the main event sponsor).

Milton Keynes is less than an hour from Euston by train and I've heard it'll be a sunny weekend, so come and have some fun in the sun on Saturday. Are you interested? :)

For those that don't know MK well, here's a page with links to maps of the area:

http://www.destinationmiltonkeynes.co.uk/Directions

If you're travelling by train then go to MKC - Milton Keynes Central. Pick up a local map at the station, get any bus going into the town centre or walk up to the main shopping centre. From John Lewis/ Milton Keynes Theatre follow the paths to walk over to Campbell Park.

Thank you for the 'how to get there if you are travelling by train' FF, I will be in attendance and wearing my GB London pride t shirt. Hopefully it won't get too sunny otherwise I may have to take shelter in a pub.

Cool, PBA, I shall look out for your shirt. Didn't make it to London Pride this year so I'm not sure what that t-shirt looks like, is it pink?

No idea what I'll wear yet.

It is blue with the slogan, Dip me in gingerbeer and throw me to the lesbians, mind I will probably be wearing a light shirt to protect me from the sun, but I wil leave it open to expose most of the tshirt (apart from the fact that I can't close the bottom two buttons anymore anyway ::) ).

Oh cool, PBA, so you'll just have to rip your shirt open when you're ready to be dipped in chocolate gingerbeer. If I can spot you, I'll have to take a picture of that! ;D

Ha ha, of course the proper gingerbeer one, no doubt of the very alcoholic sort  :D
I shall also be wearing my panama hat, so the little round ball going in curves with a hat is me.

See you tomorrow, if you see me that is :)

Glad to see you enjoyed it PBA and thanks PearlD1va. The event went very well by all accounts (I turned up towards the end) and got good coverage in the local press. The organisers want to do it again, so we've hopefully many more ahead of us too. The fantastic weather helped no doubt.

Look out for the Black Tie Winter Festive Event in December at Jurys Inn, Milton Keynes. Details TBC.
