you need to ensure your image is 90 pixels by 90 pixels. (you can resize in Photoshop, or use www.imageshack.us as you can resize as you upload - may lose some quality this way though)

you then need to upload image onto a site that stores images, such as imageshack above.

then go to your profile, and instead of no pic or personal pic, click below on I have my own pic and insert the url provided when uploaded into the box next to http://

save changes and your avatar should appear

I'm terrible at introductions (no idea what to say!) so will just go and join in a couple of threads. <--- despite encouragement, is still far too reserved for own good
